Software Updates and Features

LucidShape CAA 2023.06 Release

LucidShape CAA V5 Based 2023.06 includes many enhancements to improve your optical design experience.

The Advanced Analysis component of LucidShape CAA now supports color analysis, and several other useful features:

  • You can now add color analysis to existing and new measurements, including many regulation standard measurements. These measurements are integrated with the measurement data grid, allowing for the validation of regulations for intensity and color in one table. The color analysis supports several color spaces as well as engineering staples such as the Planckian Locus, Helmholtz coordinates, and MacAdam ellipses.
  • You can have multiple UV Data Views open in different tabs and configure the tab placements, enabling side by side comparison.
  • When you have special views such as a Driver's View or a set of UV Data Files, you can identify a point in one set of data and see where it maps to in other related data sets. For example, if there is a trouble spot in a combined UV Data File, you can see where that area is in each of the source UV Data Files.
  • Advanced Analysis now supports IES, LT Mesh, and Ford Photometric UV Data Files.
  • You have more options for line measurements as you can control whether the slice plots are presented by the cord length or projected along an axis. You can also overlay slice plots to compare them more easily.
Adding Ray History Sensors in LucidShape CAA

You can now add Ray History Sensors to the majority of the LucidShape CAA sensors, now including the Planar Lux Sensor, the Surface Sensor, and the License Plate Sensor. Combined with the Surface Filter in dynamic mode, you can use the Restore from Sensor tool to explore partial light distributions or ray paths for selected actor surfaces without needing to run an additional simulation.

If you are working with a ray file light source, you can override the flux provided in a ray file without creating a new ray file.

There is a new tool to enable you to add glyphs showing the surface normal at positions you determine along a surface. These positions are saved so you can show and hide the glyphs as needed.

MacroFocal design features in the LucidShape CAA Design Module | Synopsys

There are several improvements to MacroFocal design features in the LucidShape CAA Design Module.

  • Ability to define global shift, scaling, and stretch to all spreads in a MacroFocal design.
  • Ability to define a set of spreads and save them to apply them to facets using a Spread Table.
  • A new "Simple Spread" algorithm for use in designs with hundreds or thousands of facets.
  • A spread adjustment tool you can use to easily tweak settings with a few clicks instead of entering different sets of numbers.
  • When designing lenses, you can include the base surface during the calculation but optionally exclude the base surface from the resulting actor.
LucidShape CAA Light Guide Design Module | Synopsys

There are three improvements to the LucidShape CAA Light Guide Design Module:

  • A new profile shape, the Draft Keyhole, allows you to pick a draft direction for the walls of a keyhole profile to improve demoldability of your design.
  • The User Profile now uses parameterized values similar to the pre-defined profile shapes, enabling you to more precisely control the profiles in your design.
  • The Keep Edges for prisms option is now available in Surface Mode.

CODE V Example Models

CODE V example models provide opportunities to explore CODE V¡¯s extensive design and analysis capabilities as you work on practical examples. Get a head start designing your next imaging application with example models in CODE V.  We have recently added the following example models to SolvNetPlus:

Compact Reflective System in CODE V | Synopsys

  • Application: Compact Reflective System: This example demonstrates the detailed workflow of how to design a compact off-axis folded mirror system with Automatic Design. You will learn about design procedures and constraints commonly used for off-axis system design.
AUT Max Sag Departure in CODE V | Synopsys

  • Optimization: AUT Max Sag Departure: In this example, we will reduce the maximum sag departure of the primary mirror using a user-defined function in optimization. A function that calculates the root mean square of sag departure is also provided.
New CODE V Example Models | Synopsys

  • Lens Data Manager: Fresnel Lens Basics:   This example demonstrates how to model a Fresnel lens using the following two surface types: Thin Fresnel and Fresnel Planar Substrate.
