Dr. John Rogers

Dr. John Rogers is a Principal Scientist at Synopsys, with extensive experience in designing and tolerancing a wide range of optical systems, including 3D imaging for dental use, ophthalmic surgical systems, and helmet-mounted displays. Dr. Rogers excels in optical fabrication, metrology, and transitioning designs into production. An early adopter of Nodal Aberration Theory, he has also contributed to optics for space and airborne applications. He has taught optical testing and lens design at the university level and developed various algorithms to enhance optical system performance. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Optics from the University of Arizona, and a B.S. in Mathematics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. In recognition of his significant contributions to the field, Dr. Rogers was awarded the prestigious SPIE Rudolf and Hilda Kingslake Award in 2020.
