Cloud native EDA tools & pre-optimized hardware platforms
Dear Synopsys Customer:
Note: The information in this letter affects only those customers using the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) platform.
Starting with the L-Foundation (2016.03) releases, Synopsys will be moving to a single Linux executable. This means that the same executable can be used for both the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SLES operating systems. This will affect SLES user¡¯s execution paths in their scripts.
This will not change the Linux distributions that Synopsys supports. Synopsys will still only support RHEL and SLES distributions of Linux. Both SLES and RHEL users simply use the same Linux executable.
Making the transition to a single executable:
In order to ease this transition, Synopsys will create symbolic links from the old platform name (SUSE64) to the new platform name (linux64). This ensures existing scripts continue to function. Synopsys recommends that users modify their scripts to the new names as soon as possible, and use the new platform name when starting new designs.
Customers with scripts that currently read
../icc/suse64/syn/bin/galaxy_shell_exec
Should change their scripts to read
../icc/linux64/syn/bin/galaxy_shell_exec
What about the other platforms?
This change does not affect the Windows or IBM AIX platforms.
Should you need any technical support in this transition, open a case through SolvNet at or email support_center@synopsys.com with your question and Site ID information.
