This guide lists the platforms supported by the Synopsys L-Foundation Releases 2016.03, 2016.06, 2016.09. A platform consists of the computer architecture and the operating system version. Not all Synopsys products are available on every platform listed below. Synopsys tests and supports only specific versions of each operating system. Operating system vendors guarantee that applications compiled on a lower minor version of an operating system will be binary compatible with higher minor versions of the same operating system. This means that an application supported on OS version X.Y should run on OS version X.Z. For example, a tool supported on RHEL 6.6 should run on RHEL 6.7. While Synopsys can only guarantee the qualified OS versions that we support (listed below), customers can usually rely on the OS vendor's claim when running higher minor versions. This said, OS vendor claims may not apply across major versions, therefore a tool that supports RHEL 7.1 may not be compatible with RHEL 8.0 unless directly specified in either this page or in the tool release notes.
